"Kashrut" mezuzah From the torah we find the basis of keeping kosher . The torah tells us that land animal must have cloven hooves and chew their cud, that things of the waters must have fins and scales, and birds can not be scavengers or birds of prey. Kashrut from the root kosher (Kaf-shin-reish) meaning what is correct and proper makes us think about our everyday actions.
